Jaime raised his helmet visor, sweating despite the cold air of winter. The war was hard, much harder than he remembered, and he was not sure that this depended only from having lost his sword hand.
In the end, he had to give up, what would never have recovered some of its accuracy, could be converted to brute force, and now her left hand holding a sledgehammer covered with blood and brain matter. But we would never make it alone. Now that seemed to put down the revolt (
poor, poor people and priests thought ), looking round for what is now considered his sword.
Brienne advancing toward him at that moment, his helmet under his arm, his hair grown enough to cover the scar on his face. She also appeared exhausted, and there was something hard in his features, in place of innocence. But at the same time, Jaime recognized the excitement of the battle that still shone in his eyes. "They were only armed with sticks and stones," he said, shaking his head. The blade of his sword was dark with blood, add Jaime avoided sticks, stones, knives and sent by Dorne and the Eagle's Nest . "You were good, Brienne. You are one of the best warriors I've ever seen combat, I really think." He went up and circled her shoulders in an awkward gesture of camaraderie. Their armor collided. "Now I have lost count of all the times you saved my life." She smiled weakly, while a slight blush rising to her cheeks. "There was nothing else to do," he said. "I think ... I think we are riding the same boat since we left Delta Water."
Jaime laughed all'involontaria joke. "Yeah, in the same boat in the true sense of the word." The heat of battle, waning, the euphoria was leaving him indefinitely, along with much more recognizable excitement. He felt the irrational urge to kiss Brienne, standing in front of everyone, but then blew the horn to communicate the end of the battle.
Thank you very much, I had not noticed. Brienne
bowed his head and stepped forward, putting that kind of embrace. Jaime followed, suppressing disappointment. At least, that the times were looming, would have other chances to fight together.
